A strong, durable engine is the key to a long lifespan for a car, and some automakers’ models have better motors than others. Naturally, then, mechanics have seen it all and can offer some firsthand advice on which brands have the best engines.
Auto shop workers at Accurate Automotive in Colorado shared their opinions on the car brands with the strongest engines in a recent TikTok video. “Toyotas,” one employee said, with another echoing the “Toyota” sentiment.
Others attributed great engines less to one brand and more to one manufacturer overall. “It’s got to be the old-fashioned LS engines,” one mechanic said, referring to General Motors‘ LS-based small-block engines first introduced in 1997. Another mechanic noted that the brands with the best engines are “Probably like Chevy [or] Ford; early Chevy [or] Ford.” Chevrolet is GM’s most successful brand.
